GE Elfun and GE Foundation

GE Elfun, a community service organization of 40,000 GE employees and retirees in more than 90 communities worldwide, is committed to improving our communities, our company, and our lives through volunteerism, leadership, and camaraderie. Elfun has already led the Company in surpassing its goal of one million volunteer hours annually for youth by 2000 by logging 1.3 million hours one year ahead of schedule.

Accomplishments include 800 community service projects around the world, the construction or renovation of 100 playgrounds, mentor programs at 150 schools and 25 food programs. Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou Elfun Chapters have been established to meet Elfun's commitment to further community services and volunteer work in China. GE is a company with a commitment to achieving worldwide leadership in each of its businesses, meanwhile, GE is also dedicated to be a corporate citizen.

GE Foundation contributes tens of millions of dollars annually to support education, the arts, the environment and human service organizations worldwide.

For years since 1993, GE Foundation has been supporting projects in China. GE Foundation has so far been enrolled with several projects, one of them is to provide grants to students and teachers at four leading Chinese universities including Beijing University, Qinghua University, Fudan University and Jiaotong University. The GE Foundation was first established in 1953. The name was changed to GE Fund in 1994 when GE's international and U.S. based philanthropy were combined into one organization. In 2003 the original name, GE Foundation, was reinstituted.
